artist bio

Christiana Nelson is a 24-year-old photographer and creative director located in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised in Cape Coral, FL, she moved to New York to study photography at New York University. Her work takes a more contemporary, conceptual approach and focuses on the idea of self-exploration and identity. Living in a small, predominantly white town, she struggled to figure out who she was. The themes of self-exploration and identity in her work after moving to New York gave her the opportunity to rediscover who she was as a black woman outside of white space. Her works on mental health, religion, gender, and family have been shown in exhibitions such as the Serving the People BFA exhibition (2020) and The Sedition Project (2021).

She has experience in photography, video, typography, graphic design, Maya, and content creation.
